Note! Especially in Tecumseh milling engines (horizontal shaft) it is quite common that premature ignition breaks the starter ("kickback"). If your old starter broke for this reason, you must repair the ignition before installing a new starter, otherwise the fault will recur. The cause of premature ignition is often found in the flywheel key.
